CGI will provide outsourced information and communications technology services to the city council of Edinburgh in Scotland under a seven-year, $293.4 million contract in support of the council’s shift toward digital services.
The company said Monday the contract is part of efforts to modernize the Scottish capital’s ICT infrastructure that includes the online delivery of public services and automation of back-office processes.
CGI noted that it will also deploy a new enterprise resource planning system to provide a digital self-service platform that works to increase productivity, reduce costs and facilitate citizen engagement.
“We are delighted to partner with the City of Edinburgh Council as we embark together on this journey to enable the digital transformation of public services throughout Edinburgh,” said Steve Thorn, senior vice president of CGI’s U.K. public sector business.
The company added that the contract could help generate at least 200 new jobs and 60 modern apprenticeships in Edinburgh.
