Carl Marchetto, formerly president and CEO of business development consulting firm Polaris Associates, has been appointed vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin‘s commercial satellite business, Denver Business Journal reported Tuesday.
Marchetto succeeds Mike Hamel, who will oversee a joint venture between Lockheed and telecommunications firms in Saudi Arabia, Greg Avery writes.
Marchetto is a three-decade commercial space sector veteran and will manage production and sales of communications satellites, wind detection platforms and remote sensing tools.
He spent a decade at Eastman Kodak as president of the commercial imaging business and then moved to Orbital ATK’s predecessor companies ATK and Orbital Sciences as president of commercial space groups.
Marchetto previously worked at Lockheed as program director for A2100 satellite systems from 1992 to 1996.
