droneThe U.S. Air Force has awarded Boston Engineering a $150,000 contract to help build an embedded motor control technology for unmanned aerial vehicles.

Boston Engineering aims to demonstrate a motor controller that could reduce noise of drone systems as well as support propulsion and sensor functions in unmanned aircraft, the company said Friday.

Mark Smithers, co-founder and chief technology officer of Boston Engineering, said the company holds 20 years of experience in motion control development collaboration with government and industrial clients.

The Air Force awarded the contact through the military branch’s Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer initiative.

Boston Engineering seeks to help customers accelerate the time to market for motor control products through the company’s FlexMC Motor Control Development Platform.
