IBM has been authorized to offer government agencies a cloud-based mobile device management platform through the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program.
This is the first instance of an enterprise mobility management offering to receive a provisional authority-to-operate designation from the FedRAMP Joint Authorization Board, the company said Wednesday.
IBM’s MaaS360 enterprise mobility system will be available for purchase by U.S. government agencies following the approval.
“Federal agencies are demanding secure mobility solutions to support their desire to transform business processes and improve services to citizens, the military and government workers,” said Anne Altman, general manager of IBM’s federal business.
IBM designed Maas360 to help organizations manage smartphones, tablets and personal computers.
The General Services Administration and the departments of Commerce and the Interior are among 50 agencies that already have adopted IBM’s MaaS360 system, the company said.
IBM also built the technology to integrate with the company’s Security Access Manager for Identity Management and Trusteer for Threat Management applications.
