Steve White, director of security and compliance at CenturyLink, has explained how the company safeguards customer data in collaboration with Vormetric.
White wrote in a blog post published Wednesday that CenturyLink adopts a shared responsibility model for customer data.
“In CenturyLink’s shared responsibility model, we provide not only account security, network security and physical security, but also data-in-transit encryption for our customers,†White said.
CenturyLink partners with independent software vendors such as Vormetric to help users encrypt data at rest using keys that he says are controlled and managed by clients, according to him.
“By enabling our mutual customers to control the encryption keys to their sensitive data at rest, as well as a tight integration and easy deployment, CenturyLink and Vormetric allow users to take a proactive approach to the security of their sensitive data,†White writes.
