Lockheed Martin BlueLockheed Martin has been awarded a follow-on contract to build additional Sniper targeting pods for the Pakistan Air Force‘s F-16 fleet under a foreign military sales agreement.

The company will also work to upgrade 22 Sniper ATPs in addition to the production of 15 pods, Lockheed Martin said Tuesday.

The pods are scheduled for delivery and upgrade in late 2015.

“Additional Sniper ATPs and upgrades will give the Pakistan Air Force a more robust precision targeting capability to support the nation’s security requirements,” said Rich Lovette, Sniper international program director at Lockheed Martin missiles and fire control.

Pilots use the Sniper ATP to view high-resolution imagery during precision targeting, surveillance and reconnaissance operations.

The targeting pod works to identify and track small tactical targets at long ranges, Lockheed Martin says.
