Orbital ATK has awarded a combined $135,000 in scholarships to help the children of the aerospace company’s employees pursue their post-secondary education for this coming academic year.
The company said Wednesday Scholarship Management Services selected 70 scholarship recipients based on their test scores, grade average, class ranking, work experience, career objectives and involvement in community and school activities.
“On behalf of Orbital ATK, I congratulate the recipients of these highly competitive company scholarships and their parents,†said David W. Thompson, president and CEO of Orbital ATK.
“These young men and women worked hard to achieve the academic records and other accomplishments that enabled them to receive these awards.”
At least 60 percent of the scholarships will be given to students who are pursuing science, technology, mathematics and engineering courses in college, according to the company.
