Northrop Grumman has completed a series of test flights for its open mission systems platform aboard a stealth bomber.
The test flight sought to evaluate the OMS architecture’s capability to receive threat data from Gulfstream G550 intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft and allow a B-2 Spirit strike bomber carry out an auto-routing operation against a simulated attack through a data link and a ground-based battle management command and control system, Northrop said Monday.
The company performed the flight test with the U.S. Air Force after a test of the OMS architecture aboard a NASA-operated Global Hawk drone at Edwards Air Force Base in California in June.
Northrop said the OMS architecture adopts a uniform message interface for battle management, auto-routing functions and radar communication subsystems.
