Northrop Grumman helped the U.S. Missile Defense Agency host an event May 20 to brainstorm technological ideas with smaller companies as part of the Defense Department‘s Small Business Innovation Research initiative.
The company also presented its air and missile defense technology programs to several SBIR contract holders during the forum, Northrop said Thursday.
“We enjoyed helping the small businesses gain a broader perspective of their market space,” said Dan Verwiel, vice president and general manager of the integrated air and missile defense division within Northrop’s information systems segment.
Verwiel added the company plans to hold similar meetings on a semiannual basis in Colorado Springs, Colorado and in Huntsville, Alabama.
The SBIR program aims to help small firms develop and commercialize defense platforms and Northrop supports the program to give companies an opportunity to find subcontracting work.
