Lockheed Martin will retain its government cybersecurity business as the company looks to potentially separate many of its information technology and technical services segments, CEO Marillyn Hewson told Defense News in an interview posted Monday.

The company’s commercial cyber business is part of Lockheed’s IT and technical services business review, she said.

“Market dynamics and changing customer priorities have made it clear that these businesses could achieve greater growth and be more successful outside of Lockheed,” Hewson told Defense News.

Hewson, an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2015, also said Lockheed aims to broaden its defense and aerospace market footprint through the $9 billion acquisition of helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky Aircraft.

“It also opens up a new channel for our business in commercial helicopters and services,” she added.
