Lockheed Martin has subcontracted Domaille Engineering to produce thermal management components for a ground-based radar platform Lockheed is building under a $914.7 million contract with the U.S. Air Force.
The Space Fence radar will work to record the movements of space assets in orbit and help prevent potential collisions between space objects, Domaille said Tuesday.
Tim Kanne, president of Domaille, said the company has hired additional staff to meet production demands.
Domaille Engineering said it expects to start the delivery of the components by the middle of this year.
Lockheed will create up to two phased-array S-band radars on the Pacific Ocean’s Kwajalein Atoll under the Space Fence initiative.
