L-3 CommAn L-3 Communications division has won a contract option to provide additional electro-optical sensor systems for the U.S. Navy, United Press International reported Thursday.

Richard Tomkins writes L-3 KEO will supply nine MK 20 sensors to the service branch for integration with gun platforms on board Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruisers and Arleigh Burke-class destroyers.

The MK 20 system is designed to provide three-dimensional images during day and night for use in situational awareness, navigation, visual detection and surveillance operations, Tomkins reports.

L-3 KEO will build the MK 20 electro-optical sensors in the next two years, according to the report.
