A Huntington Ingalls Industries division has received a designation given by the American Heart Association to companies that promote exercise and wellness programs in the workplace.
This is the third year that Ingalls Shipbuilding has earned the Fit-Friendly Worksite status and the organization’s second year to receive the Platinum Fit-Friendly designation from AHA, HII said Friday.
“We are very proud of the work we do here at Ingalls to promote healthier lifestyles and wellness of not just our employees, but their families,” said Edmond Hughes, Ingalls vice president of human resources and administration.
Hughes added the company encourages healthy habits through its family health center as well as sporting events and smoking cessation initiatives.
Twenty-one companies in Mississippi hold the association’s Fit-Friendly Worksite designation.
