Hewlett-Packard and Seagate Technology have expanded their alliance to include the reselling of Seagate’s ClusterStor 1500 and 9000 storage appliances with HP’s Apollo portfolio of high-performance computing products and services.
Seagate said Tuesday the combined technologies work to bolster storage and computing capabilities in support of academic, medical, industrial and government research activities.
“Aligning our expertise is more valuable than ever before as HPC moves into a new era of data-centric computing, which is increasing the need for high-performance, scalable storage systems,” said Ken Claffey, vice president and general manager of Seagate’s HPC systems business.
Bill Mannel, vice president and general manager at HP, added that the company has previously utilized ClusterStor to support HPC workloads in the oil and gas vertical.
