The FBI has started its work to respond to a recent data breach on Italy-based surveillance company Hacking Team in collaboration with Rook Security.
Rook Security has begun to supply intelligence to the FBI Indianapolis Cyber Task Force on the leaked company files as found in its research, Rook Security said Friday.
“This breach has been very unique in nature and challenging for security technology vendors to obtain code samples to create signatures and patches, thereby leaving scores of systems potentially vulnerable to nefarious actors seeking to weaponize Hacking Team’s once proprietary tools,†said J.J. Thompson, CEO of Rook Security.
Rook Security and the FBI worked to identify malicious files from the leaked data, create input/output control system for the affected organizations and determine affected customers.
Rook Security also rolled out an automated detection tool to help concerned organizations evaluate their security status after the breach.
