Science Applications International Corp. is opening a facility in Seattle to develop applied gaming technologies and methods for public and private sector clients.

SAIC said Thursday it will employ designers, artists, engineers, animators and composers at the company’s serious game studio, scheduled to open Monday.

Doug Wagoner, sector president at SAIC, said the company will use the studio to build education, training and simulation platforms.

Gaming technologies will be designed to run on computers, mobile devices and consoles.

The company has produced serious games for military, healthcare and industrial training use over the past 10 years.
