Booz Allen Hamilton has teamed up with Power Analytics and Siemens to conduct feasibility studies on the construction of microgrid systems across the state of New York.
Booz Allen said Thursday 16 communities in the state each received an initial funding worth $100,000 for the microgrid projects under the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s NY Prize program.
The competition aims to explore the capability of microgrids to mitigate power reliability concerns and is part of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Reforming the Energy Vision platform.
Booz Allen will collaborate with utility officials and community representatives to evaluate costs, energy flows, benefits, infrastructure and power generation assets and expects the studies to conclude by the first quarter of 2016.
Power Analytics will work to integrate its Energy Net software platform with the microgrid projects, while Siemens will assess grid infrastructure and microgrid control aspects for the systems.
The communities that secured funding as part of the NY Prize program include:

- Chateaugay
- Clarkstown

- Elmira
