Boeing has begun construction work on a new facility in Oklahoma City as part of its plan to move the aircraft sustainment and modernization division’s headquarters there.
The company said Wednesday it will open the 290,000-square-foot building in the summer of 2016 to accommodate personnel involved in research and development and engineering operations.
Leanne Caret, president of global services and support at Boeing, said at least 12 senior management executives will move Oklahoma City in line with its plan to move the AM&S headquarters to the area.
The AM&S division works to provide logistics, weapons upgrade, tanker maintenance and other support services for command and control aircraft and C-17 Globemaster III transport planes.
Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin also attended the groundbreaking ceremony.
