Bob Fecteau, chief information officer of Science Applications International Corp., has discussed the company’s method to further build up its information technology team in an interview with Forbes published Tuesday.
Fecteau told Forbes’ Peter High that SAIC first established a set of principles to promote collaboration and sharing within the IT workforce.
“One of the features we find is that people do better when they understand they work together with other people,†he told the publication.
“We are an integrated team, and by sharing challenges and examples between each other, we can synergistically get to a better result because the mass of people are working together as a group,†Fecteau said.
SAIC also implements what Fecteau called a “servant-leader” model intended to provide resources and tools to the entire team, according to the report.
“I work for them to make sure they are provided the platforms, they’re provided for effectively with budget, they’re skilled, and if they don’t have the skills, I identify where the shortfalls are,†Fecteau told Forbes.
