A Cubic subsidiary has been awarded a potential 33-month, $5 million contract to develop a testbed for the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to evaluate technologies for infantry use.
Intific is part of Cubic’s global defense segment and will build the testing platform in support of the agency’s Squad X Core Technologies project, Cubic said Monday.
“We are honored to be selected by DARPA to provide a virtual testbed that aims to leverage advancements in game engines to take testing and concept development to the next level,” said Bill Toti, president of Cubic’s global defense segment.
The platform will be designed to have game-based, virtual and realistic training applications and work to assess military weapons, sensors and unmanned vehicles.
Intific is scheduled to deliver the testbed in the fourth quarter of its 2017 fiscal year.
