Airbus Defense and Space and Sion Power have agreed to power the Zephyr unmanned aerial vehicle with Sion’s lithium sulfur batteries.
Sion will assemble the Li-S battery packs in Tucson Arizona under the three-year agreement, Sion said Wednesday.
Sion previously delivered batteries for the Zephyr 7 program.
Airbus is acquiring the batteries for the Zephyr 8, which the company built to fly in different environments such as those in winter seasons.
