A Northrop Grumman business unit has received a Commissioner’s Business Recognition Award from the Orange County School District, Florida Education Foundation and Florida Department of Education for the company’s partnerships with local schools.
Northrop said Wednesday its laser systems business has worked on programs such as the Wekiva High School Laser Photonics Career Academy and the High School Involvement Partnership.
“Engaging students and keeping them interested in science, technology, engineering and math is essential to the success of our company and our country,” said Gordon Stewart, vice president for laser systems at Northrop’s electronic systems segment.
He added that the company will continue its work to help build the future STEM workforce.
Northrop’s laser systems business was one of the honorees awarded during the Florida Chamber Foundation’s Annual Education and Philanthropy Summit this week.
The company said it also received recognition in May from the Orange County Public Schools during the Partners in Education event.
