northrop-Grumman_BLUEA Northrop Grumman subsidiary has introduced a ground robot that intends to help military bomb squads combat vehicle-based improvised explosive devices and other threats.

The Andros FX unmanned vehicle from Northrop Grumman Remotec has an operation control tool with a touchscreen showing three-dimensional graphics, four track pods and an arm with additional roll joints, the company said Thursday.

Remotec will exhibit the robot at the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators’ five-day annual conference in Pennsylvania, which is set to commence June 8, and will start to accept orders for the system by April 2016.

Tennessee-based Remotec builds mobile robot systems for first responders, military branches and law enforcement agencies.
