Leidos has donated $200,000 to the University of Virginia to support cybersecurity, healthcare informatics and sustainable energy research efforts at the university’s Data Science Institute, UVA Today reported Friday.
Josie Pipkin writes Leidos also agreed to provide its DigitalEdge cloud-based analytics technology for student capstone projects.
“Data science and analytics has the potential to transform the explosion of information in many business areas,” said S. Gulu Gambhir, Leidos chief technology officer and a university executive sponsor.
“By using tools like DigitalEdge, student analysts can reduce the flood of data into relevant facts to support better decisions,†Gambhir added.
The university will also use Leidos’ donation to fund a technology leadership program, wireless cybersecurity research programs and a national defense and intelligence forum.
