IBM has deployed an analytics-based data network on the cloud in an effort to help law enforcement departments produce case leads and share police records with other agencies.
The company said Monday its IBM i2 COPLINK on Cloud platform has geospatial mapping functions designed to help police officers generate maps associated with burglaries, arson and other crimes.
Law enforcement officials can use desktop computers, mobile devices and in-vehicle data computers to access data from IBM’s cloud-based data network, according to the company.
“Access to the vast volume of law enforcement data hosted on the cloud can increase an agency’s ability to uncover hidden relationships in data, and also can help agencies establish crime patterns outside their own region and share information across jurisdictions using security features,” said Robert Griffin, general manager of Safer Planet at IBM.
The International Justice and Public Safety Network, known as Nlets, hosts the IBM platform.
