IBM and the British government have pumped a total of $479.7 million in investments into cognitive computing and big data research, Computerworld UK reported Thursday.
Margi Murphy writes the amount is meant to expand the Hartree Center at Daresbury.
The facility will have access to IBM’s Watson cognitive computer, intellectual property assets and researchers under the technology agreement, according to the report.
Run by the Science and Technology Facilities Council, the center is intended to provide insights into the link between genetics and diseases, and home product manufacturing processes using high performance computing, Murphy reports.
