A Harris Corp. subsidiary has released a new mobile connectivity service intended to help offshore maritime and drilling crews communicate with other people anywhere in the world.
Harris CapRock Communications designed the GSM service offering to facilitate roaming connectivity as well as voice, text, email and smartphone data communications for customers based in remote areas, Harris said Tuesday.
The suite is comprised of a local prepaid SIM card and a home network roaming platform that allows users to keep their cellphones and numbers without replacing their SIMs, according to Harris.
CapRock also offers on-site assistance to customers worldwide.
The business operates a global managed satellite and terrestrial communications infrastructure that is designed for the government, energy and maritime sectors.
