The General Services Administration plans to include special item numbers for health information technology and cybersecurity offerings on the IT Schedule 70 acquisition vehicle, Federal Times reported Wednesday.
Aaron Boyd writes Soundjata Carty, a contracting officer at GSA’s Office of Integrated Technology Services, said the agency could publish a request for information in the coming weeks to seek public and private sectors’ input on the proposed health IT SIN.
“For health IT, we’re looking at things like interoperability and what actually makes health IT for both federal and civil healthcare,” he told audience at the Federal IT Acquisition Summit Monday.
Carty added he expects GSA to launch an open inquiry about cybersecurity SIN before the end of this year, according to Federal Times.
SINs are designed to group similar technology offerings for the government and to make it easier for buyers to compare product costs and features.
