general-dynamics-logo2A General Dynamics subsidiary has secured a $46.4 million contract to help the U.S. Navy plan for upgrade and maintenance work on a Los Angeles-class nuclear-powered attack submarine during its temporary dry-docking period.

The contract, which could reach $259.6 million in total value once the service exercises all options, calls for General Dynamics Electric Boat to conduct modernization and repair activities on USS Montpelier at its shipyard in Groton, Connecticut, through February 2018, General Dynamics said Friday.

About 600 workers are expected to work on the vessel, the company said.
