AgustaWestland has selected CAE to provide aviation training equipment for the U.K. naval forces under the U.K. defense ministry’s Merlin Life Sustainment Program.
The subcontract calls for CAE to design and assemble a rear-crew trainer, flight navigation procedures trainer and two fixed-based flight training devices for the AW101 Merlin helicopter crew of the Royal Navy, CAE said Wednesday.
“We are pleased to once again partner with AgustaWestland to support the training needs of the Royal Navy’s Commando Helicopter Force as they introduce a more capable AW101 helicopter,” said Ian Bell, CAE’s vice president and regional business leader in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
CAE is expected to deliver the training systems to Royal Naval Air Stations Yeovilton in 2017.
