A study commissioned by CA Technologies reports that a majority of organizations that have implemented enterprise big data strategies see or anticipate effective targeted sales and marketing campaigns and revenue growth.
The company said Monday Vanson Bourne‘s “The State of Big Data Infrastructure: Benchmarking Global Big Data Users to Drive Future Performance” report shows continued interest in big data projects amid some implementation challenges.
The study indicates that 84 percent of large organizations already have or plan to have a big data project to bolster customer experience, acquire new customers or keep pace with competitors as well as move forward with digital transformation.
“While organizations face challenges in tackling complexities associated with implementation efforts, the results overwhelmingly demonstrate that companies are committed to developing and deploying fully integrated big data strategies,” said David Hodgson, general manager of the mainframe business unit of CA Technologies.
“By overcoming the obstacles, companies can successfully compete in the application economy.”
The challenges identified in the report include insufficient infrastructure, organizational complexity, security and compliance concerns, lack of budget and resources and lack of visibility into information and processes.
CA Technologies said Vanson Bourne surveyed 1,000 information technology managers from 11 countries to complete this study.
