Lockheed Martin will develop, test and update computer software on two classes of Japanese navy destroyers under a $69.7 million foreign military sales contract modification awarded by the U.S. Navy.
The contract is part of Japan’s Aegis Modernization program and calls for Lockheed to perform work in Washington, D.C.; Moorestown, New Jersey and Tokyo through March 2017, the Defense Department said Tuesday.
The U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command is obligating all funds at the time of award.
The modernization initiative seeks to help the Japanese navy defend against ballistic missiles.
