Tony Frazier, senior vice president at DigitalGlobe, has said the company recently posted a tool called MrGeo to source code sharing site GitHub, Reuters reported Friday.
Andrea Shalal writes DigitalGlobe developed the tool under the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s research and development program.
The company also disclosed that it is developing fresh tools intended to help NGA and other agencies extract value from high-resolution imagery using public data, according to the report.
The NGA has begun to share analytical tools and other computer programs to the public via its newly created GitHub account in an effort to solicit feedback from developers, Shalal reports.
Reuters reports NGA Director Robert Cardillo has also initiated a cultural shift in the agency with the goal of providing intelligence to the government by exploiting social media and commercial imagery.
