Stewart Room, head of cybersecurity and data protection for PwC‘s legal practice, has urged businesses in the Internet of Things market to build up their privacy and security measures, Computing reported Friday.
“If any business gets this wrong, what they are running towards is a serious trust, confidence and legal crisis,” Room said at an event PwC co-hosted with ForgeRock.
Graeme Burton writes that Room called on IoT companies to work with customers to determine their needs even as their legal obligations on IoT technologies continue to change.
Room also noted that future legislation could also put manufacturers of connected devices liable for security vulnerabilities found in their products.
