A subsidiary of NIC Inc. in Arkansas has introduced a government application for Apple Watch.
The Gov2Go app from NIC’s Arkansas Information Consortium LLC works like a personal digital assistant to remind users about deadlines of car registration tag renewal, property tax payments and other government-related events, NIC said Thursday.
“Since the founding of our company our single mission has been to harness the power of the latest technology to make government more accessible for everyone,” said Robert Knapp, chief operating officer at NIC.
“Now we are innovating to see how new wearable technology can provide efficiencies in government interactions.”
Aside from its Arkansas unit, NIC’s divisions in Texas, Maryland and Mississippi plan to introduce more government apps for Apple’s smartwatch in the next few weeks, the company said.
