Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $27,283,219 modification contract to build additional passive and active sonar receivers for the U.S. Navy and Japan under a foreign military sale agreement.
The company will produce seven TB-37 multifunction towed array units, tow cables, electro-optical slip rings, drogues and shipping products, the Defense Department said Friday.
Lockheed will perform work in New York, Maryland and Massachusetts through February 2017.
The MFTA system is designed to help surface ships detect and target threats, and serves as a sensor for various combat systems.
