Hewlett Packard has received a five-year, $305 million contract extension to help run a web-based system for the California’s Welfare Client Data Systems consortium to manage public assistance services.
The CalWORKS Information Network system is designed to manage approximately 40 percent of the entire welfare caseload in the state and process as many as 22 million transactions each day, HP said Monday.
HP’s enterprise services unit will also update the CalWIN infrastructure’s business intelligence, document management and customer service tools through the contract.
The WCDS consortium uses the platform to assess eligibility and manage benefits under Medi-Cal, California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids, CalFresh, County Medical Services Program, Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants and Kinship Guardian Assistance Payment Program.
The platform is also built to facilitate interaction between welfare beneficiaries and social service workers.
