The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has awarded a contract to GrammaTech to research and develop an analysis tool for use in detecting denial-of-service threats in software under the Space/Time Analysis for Cybersecurity platform.
The contract calls for the creation of a technology that would detect two types of DoS vulnerabilities that allow network attackers to interfere with the software’s response capabilities and gain access to classified information by spying on the application’s use of time and space, GrammaTech said Thursday.
The company will work with researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Yale University on the project.
“DoS attacks on critical national infrastructure are particularly troublesome,†GrammaTech CEO Tim Teitelbaum said.
“This project, along with other contracts GrammaTech is currently working on with DARPA, is intended to solve a major cybersecurity threat to our nation.”
GrammaTech collaborates with DARPA on other cybersecurity programs, including the Mining and Understanding Software Enclaves, Vetting Commodity IT Software and Firmware, and Cyber Grand Challenge initiatives.
