DigitalGlobe and Saab have created a joint venture to offer three-dimensional Earth imagery and elevation data products to commercial and government organizations.
The companies said Tuesday that Vricon aims to integrate a Saab-made 3D imaging technology and DigitalGlobe’s database of satellite images to develop new geospatial products.
The business will initially focus on producing topographic models derived from satellite and aerial photographs for defense, security and infrastructure management use.
DigitalGlobe and Saab hold an equal stake in the Reston, Virginia-based venture.
