BoeingLogo1 EbizBoeing has delivered the first two CH-47F Chinook tandem-rotor helicopters to the Australian army as the country’s military branch works to upgrade its fleet of cargo helicopters.

The company will deliver five additional Chinook aircraft this year and provide operational maintenance services for the seven helicopters through its Boeing Defence Australia business, Boeing said May 6.

The Australian army accepted the first two advanced configuration planes during a ceremony held on May 5 at the Royal Australian Air Force Base Townsville in Queensland.

Rear Admiral Tony Dalton of Australia-based Defence Materiel Organisation said, “The project to deliver the new Chinooks remains on schedule and under budget.”

Meanwhile, Steve Parker, vice president of Boeing cargo helicopters and H-47 program manager, said the new aircraft will work to help the Australian army perform its current and future military missions.
