In-Q-Tel — the CIA‘s venture capital arm — has made an investment in BlackBag Technologies to help the San Jose, California-based company further develop its digital forensic analysis platform for use in U.S. intelligence missions.
BlackBag designed its forensics software to help law enforcement officials to analyze information acquired from mobile devices and computers used as evidence in criminal investigations, IQT said Thursday.
“BlackBag is making a strong contribution to the next generation of digital forensics,†said Steve Bowsher, managing partner at IQT.
“We’re looking forward to working with the BlackBag team as it continues development of forensic technologies to support the missions of our government customers.”
BlackBag designed its software to work on devices that run Windows, Android, Mac OS X and other operating systems.
