XeroxXerox Corp. has been awarded a five-year, $564.9 million contract to modernize New York’s Medicaid claims processing system in an effort to help fulfill the specific requirements of Medicaid members and providers.

Xerox’s team will manage Medicaid programs such as healthcare delivery and coordination in compliance with the Affordable Care Act using its health enterprise PDF file platform, Xerox said Monday.

The company plans to hire new clerical staff, call center personnel, healthcare professionals and technical staff in various New York locations for the project.

Dave Hamilton, group president of government healthcare solutions at Xerox, said the company intends to help the state navigate its Medicaid expansion, transition to a managed care model and value-based payment, and platform transformation efforts with the health enterprise system.

The platform is designed to help Medicaid members and providers gain access to the system via mobile devices.

New York’s health department will also be able to update program rules, adopt new care and payment methods, exchange data across modular components and analyze population health, Xerox says.
