United Technologies Corp.’s aerospace systems business unit has been awarded a five-year contract to supply high frequency acoustic windows for submarines to the U.S. Navy.
UTC Aerospace Systems will make the delivery through 2020 under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, UTC said Monday.
The company’s engineered polymer products team will produce the systems at its facility in Jacksonville, Florida, for four classes of Navy submarines.
Marc Duvall, UTC Aerostructures president, said the company’s focus on continuous improvement has helped to drive down cost and enhance quality of the product.
UTC explains that an acoustic window is applied to detection, navigation and ranging operations.
