Cybersecurity professionals believe that cyber criminals are the industry’s biggest threat, with phishing and malware as the most common methods of attack and financial gain as the primary motivator, SC Magazine reported Thursday.
Tom Reeve writes that 636 survey respondents at this week’s RSA Conference said cyber criminals were the most active threats to their organizations in the past year, followed by nonmalicious insiders and hackers.
“It’s something we hear about and read about but in the last year we have really started to see a focus or concentration of criminals using cyber as a vehicle to attack organizations and individuals,” said Rob Stroud, vice president for strategy and innovation at CA Technologies and international president of the nonprofit ISACA.
Respondents also identified concerns over the lack of trust in the capabilities of cyber teams and the recruitment of skilled staff, the report said.
