Selex ES has been selected to deliver surveillance radars for Cobham’s search and rescue aircraft set for delivery to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.
The Seaspray 5000E active electronically scanned array radars will be installed in Cobham’s Challenger aircraft, Selex said Thursday.
Cobham’s aviation services in Australia will provide search and rescue services to the Australian maritime authority with the radar.
The company has also been awarded a new contract to perform airborne search and rescue services for AMSA for 12 years beginning in August under an open industry competition.
Cobham will run and maintain four Challenger CL-604 aircraft for operations in land and at sea from bases in Cairns, Melbourne and Perth under the new contract.
