A Research and Markets report has forecast the worldwide market for unmanned ground vehicles will enjoy a 31.34 percent growth year-over-year from 2014 to 2019.
The research firm said Monday defense agencies use UGVs to examine terrain, supply weapons to soldiers during combat operations, and perform explosive detection and disaster search and rescue efforts.
UGVs are also gaining traction in the commercial sector because of the platform’s ability to perform tasks in critical missions, the report states.
Research and Markets also noted long wave infrared uncooled camera systems as an emerging technology for military and civilian UGVs.
Companies profiled in the UGV market analysis report include BAE Systems, Cobham, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and QinetiQ.
