Northrop Grumman‘s partnership with the University of Maryland-Baltimore County under the UMBC Center for Hybrid Multicore Productivity Research consortium will expand from cybersecurity research to health data analytics.

The company said Tuesday the collaboration supports CHMPR’s goal to address challenges in productivity, scalability and performance related to the use of big data analytics in areas such as cyber and health.

“As we move forward, our security capabilities and work with CHMPR will allow for continued large scale data mining to help inform breakthrough research and drive better health outcomes,” said Amy Caro, vice president and general manager of the health division at Northrop’s information systems unit.

CHMPR is a public-private partnership and cooperative research consortium sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

Northrop serves as chair of CHMPR’s industry advisory board.

The company said its cyber partnership with UMBC includes the Cync program for commercializing cyber startups and the Cyber Scholars Program.
