Hughes Network Systems will provide data communications and networking equipment and associated services to the Texas Department of Information Resources under a two-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.
The company said Monday the contract includes digital signage utilized in emergency messaging and media distribution applications and the Hughes Learning Portal learning management system.
“By leveraging digital signage in combination with learning management, the state can deliver educational and logistical information wherever it’s needed via a powerful video-based system,” said Tony Bardo, assistant vice president of government solutions at Hughes.
He added that the company already provides satellite broadband connectivity to rural areas in Texas under another contract with Texas DIR.
The new contract is in support of the HughesON Digital Media Solutions offering and includes the use of breakroom TV, waiting room TV, digital bulletin boards and digital media players.
