ContractsNorthrop Grumman has awarded CPI Aerostructures a potential $6.75 million subcontract to provide pod structural housings in support of Northrop’s contract with the U.S. Navy for production of the Airborne Laser Mine Detection System.

CPI Aero said Tuesday it will begin delivery of the ALMDS pod structural housings early next year and extend through 2021, if all options are exercised.

The company added it has manufactured 18 housings for Northrop and the Navy since 2005.

The ALMDS pod structural housings are pressurized and built with ALMDS laser and electronics, which work to help the Navy detect and locate naval mines or mine-like objects near the water’s surface.
