Greg Wenzel, an executive vice president at Booz Allen Hamilton, has said the company is working with the U.S. Navy to implement the service’s interconnectedness goals, the Daily Transcript reported Wednesday.
Wenzel noted that there are Navy officers who say they need to operate in a networked system “rather than as individual ships, doing their own thing,” Tony Lovitt reports.
“How do you get a community to integrate and start reusing so that they are actually being more efficient?” Wenzel said.
“We are working across the DoD and with the Navy in particular, on integration and interoperability issues.”
In 2012, Booz Allen launched its Vision 20/20 strategy with the goal of developing technologies that would help the military leverage its cyber and intelligence gathering infrastructure using mobile applications, the report says.
The Daily Transcript noted that Wenzel’s team specializes in delivering tools for the digital warrior and building a digital environment for federal clients.
“The Navy sailors on the ship, they’re young men and women… utilizing the latest in mobile and interactive media [at home],†Wenzel told the publication.
“Then they get on ship and they have this [late ‘80s, early ‘90s technology] trackball that they use for command and control.”
The report quoted Karen Dahut, Booz Allen executive vice president and Strategic Innovation Group lead, as saying that by using rapid prototyping, integration and other models, Booz Allen develops products that are intended to provide the greatest value to its customers.
“When you can integrate cyber tools with deep data science and a digital platform, magic happens,” Dahut told the Daily Transcript.
